“Every problem has its solution. But if you don’t talk, no one can help you.”

— ABBAS KIAROSTAMI, Taste of Cherry

Marta Djordjevic is a Vancouver-based film critic and writer whose work centers on classic, international, and under-seen cinema.

Marta Djordjevic is a film critic, writer, and editor with a particular interest in classic, international, cult, and overlooked cinema. Much of her work examines how films are preserved, rediscovered, reassessed, or sometimes allowed to disappear from view.

She is the founder and editor of Rewind & Revive, an independent publication where she writes essays and reviews, produces video work, and hosts podcast conversations. R&R gives Marta a home for the films she gets lost in, from established classics to neglected genre films and new restorations, often using physical media releases as a starting point for deeper research.

Marta is a member of the Cascadian Film & Television Critics Association and has written criticism, conducted interviews, and covered film festivals across several platforms. She has appeared on podcasts including The Projection Booth and Raiders of the Lost Podcast, and regularly works with physical media labels and distributors on coverage surrounding home-video releases.

Alongside her film work, Marta is an editor at TVLine. She has spent much of her career in digital media, editing long-form features and news coverage, working with writers, and helping shape editorial strategy. That experience has also carried into her criticism, particularly her love of research and digging much further into a subject than she initially intended.

Her past collaborations include the Vancouver International Film Festival, MUBI Canada, Warner Bros. Canada, and Elevation Pictures. She is also increasingly interested in programming, curation, and the ways criticism can extend beyond the written review through conversations and other forms of film presentation.

Marta is based in Vancouver and is available for writing, programming, podcasting, and speaking opportunities.
