“Every problem has its solution. But if you don’t talk, no one can help you.”

— ABBAS KIAROSTAMI, Taste of Cherry

Marta Djordjevic is a Vancouver-based film critic and writer whose work centers on classic, international, and under-seen cinema.

Marta Djordjevic is a film critic and writer specializing in classic, international, and under-seen cinema. Her work centers on historically grounded criticism, contextual analysis, and the ways films circulate, disappear, and re-emerge over time, with a growing emphasis on programming and curatorial research.

She is the founder and editor of Rewind & Revive, an independent publication dedicated to rediscovering forgotten films and re-examining established classics through essays, capsule reviews, video work, and podcast episodes. Through R&R, Marta approaches cinema as a living archive shaped by cultural context, preservation, and critical reassessment rather than hype cycles or trend-driven coverage.

Marta is a member of the Cascadia Film & Television Critics Association and has contributed criticism, interviews, and festival coverage across various platforms. She has appeared on podcasts including The Projection Booth and Raiders of the Lost Podcast, and regularly collaborates with physical-media labels and distributors on contextual editorial work surrounding restorations and home-video releases.

In addition to her independent work, Marta brings extensive editorial experience from digital media, where she currently serves as a lead editor, overseeing both long-form features and news articles, managing writers, and contributing to editorial strategy. This background informs her critical approach: rigorous, research-driven, and attentive to structure, clarity, and audience context.

Her collaborations include the Vancouver International Film Festival, MUBI Canada, Warner Bros. Canada, and Elevation Pictures. She is increasingly engaged in festival-adjacent work, with a focus on thoughtful curation and historically informed presentation.

Marta is based in Vancouver and is available for writing, programming, and speaking engagements.
